Anulom Vilom is a small web app that guides you through alternate nostril breathing (anulom vilom) with clear timing for each phase.

Why I built it

I practice pranayama in the morning and wanted a metronome like cue for how long to inhale and exhale. I had been using a YouTube playlist, but ads would interrupt in the middle of a session. I vibe coded a simple app so the rhythm stays steady and predictable.

What it does

  • Pick a focus. Athletic emphasizes rhythm and control you can use while moving, without extreme breath holds. Stillness uses slow, smooth timing for calm and quiet awareness. CO₂ leans on longer exhales and holds to build comfort with higher carbon dioxide levels. You can also follow a gradual progression instead of locking into one mode.
  • Pick a pattern. Inhale/exhale only, or add holds: inhale–hold–exhale, inhale–exhale–hold, or the full inhale–hold–exhale–hold cycle.
  • Set phase lengths and start. For fifteen minutes, the app walks you through each phase of the pattern you chose.

If you are unsure whether guided breath work is appropriate for you speak with a qualified clinician first. Stop and breathe normally if you feel faint, dizzy, or unwell.
